Not much more need be said. I’m not one for big New Year’s festivities, so I’ll keep it short and wish everyone peace & prosperity in the New Year. Everyone’s been calling me and telling me what a big year 2009 will be for us, but I’m used to hearing that by now. I definitely wanted to send shouts to everyone who’s kept in touch over the year, and to all you reading this… thanks for the support!! Special shouts to Sumeet, Jennifer Jones, DJ Charma, my man Amil, and a big shout to my main doo-doo stain Delek. All the best for the ‘09 seasons!!
Wow, I just noticed it’s snowing heavy right now. Supposed to be frigid tonight. Well, once again, Happy 2009!!!
Been too long since I’ve updated the blog. I’ve been working steadily on some great House stuff with my good friend DJ Brian Coxx, as well as planning my next project. It’s something I’ve been turning over in my head for a long time… a bit of a pet project, if you will. I’m keeping a lid on it for now, just because I’m not entirely sure where I’d like to go yet. But I will say that it involves me getting back to my 2-step roots.
2008 was undeniably slow for me, overall. I would love to have closed the year by saying that it was busy, and that I’ve been doing “big things” (hate that phrase, btw), but the truth of the matter is that I feel like I’ve been preparing for something. What exactly that thing is, I’m not entirely sure yet. There’s been some great music out this year, as well as some really horrible music. Personally, I’d like to get into making some of the “great” stuff for 2009. Here’s to a great year forthcoming!
Yo! Peep my main man DJ Charma, filling in for that ninja called DJ Q on his slot on BBC 1xtra. My homie Charms pulls the ill 4 hour marathon set, playing the sickest UKG bangers in the world.
Once again, big and heavy, DJ Craig G drops it like it’s hot with Bassline Sound Vol 2. Not much to be said, really. Dope sounds. And he even hooked it up with 2 of my jams, so big him up for that one! Not one to be missed, for sure…
Well, it’s been a minute since I’ve been able to update my stuff here. Been crazy busy supporting my new single Higher feat. Sumeet, trying to get press done and everything. But in the midst of it all, I wanted to write about one of my favourite mixes in the whole entire world. Ran across it some time ago on imeem, and it’s been a staple of my listening box ever since. It’s MJ Cole’s Essential Mix from the BBC. No words need be said, really, except that if you’re an MJ Cole fan, this is, well, essential listening!
The Virgin Megastore in New York’s Times Square will close down in the first quarter of 2009, according to a published report that quotes a senior executive at the Vornado Realty Trust.
That company and the Related Cos., both real estate companies, formed a joint- venture to acquire the 10-unit Virgin Entertainment Group North America in September 2007. Vornado owns 49% of Virgin, while Related owns 51%. Neither company was available for comment at deadline.
I first heard about this on last Thursday or so, but didn’t have a chance to write about it. But damn, this is pretty sad. I mean, aside from like 2 aisles of discs at Border’s and the crazy overpriced-ness of Barnes & Noble, there’s really NO WHERE to get CDs here in NYC anymore. Yeah, you can shoot to Best Buy, but it’s not the same. Same goes for Target or any of the other General-purpose stores that also “kinda sell music”. But on the whole, the “music store” as I once knew it is dead, and it saddens me quite a bit.
I mean, the music store was a place to congregate with like-minded people. Discuss tracks you like, and the whole nine yards. I mean, I was once a vinyl junkie, and I was pretty sad when those started going too. But this is like a whole different level.
Well, I guess it’s just time we figured out what the next step is… I hope it’s a good one.
Been away for a few days, getting a few things organized, but it is with great pleasure, that I (along with my partners over at Sound Villains Management present the latest A9 single, called Higher feat. Sumeet.
It was a mad fun collabo with my homegirl Sumeet (the girl whose melodious voice blessed us all withYou Blew It (C’est La Vie)). It was co-written with our other good friend Sandy Spady. We all got together, got in the zone, and banged this one out. If you like what you hear, you can purchase it from the following retailers:
Alternatively, you can also buy it from my myspace page (via Snocap) if you’re a DJ and would like a full 320kbps version (although many would argue that Amazon’s 256kbps is more than enough, that’s neither here nor there).
Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!!
